Crytivo Games Inc. – An innovative independent games studio

The Universim by Crytivo Games, Inc. is the next evolution of God Games — i.e. games that see players take control of a civilization and directly influence the population’s daily lives and overall development. If there’s one thing we know, it’s that people love to create — from SimCity to Farmville to the insanely popular Minecraft — The Universim is the next step, the “end-all God Game you’ve been dreaming of,” as Indie Game Magazine says.

Our gameplay is unique within this genre, however. We provide a National Geographic-like feel with respect to camera control and level of detail. As opposed to other God Games which have the user controlling every minute detail of their subjects’ lives, in The Universim, the world and its people feel more like an interactive ant farm, due to the simulated real-life aspects of the game.

The God Game genre has been going through a rough patch as of late, with unfulfilled promises and subpar gameplay. The Universim is building a community and reviving the genre, and we’re off to a great start with the success of our Kickstarter that brought in over $450K in funding and a large, active base of followers waiting for the game’s release.

With The Universim by Crytivo Games, Inc., leave the farms and cities behind and jump straight into managing your own planets.

There is a big void in the God Game market. The most recent game release in this genre was Godus. Fans had high hopes for Godus since it was developed by Peter Molyneux, the man most commonly associated with creating the entire genre and the main name behind other successful God Games like Populous and Black and White.

Godus, however, did not live up to expectations. Fans were massively disappointed with the game, but more importantly, with the unkept promises leading up to its release. The Universim will use the weaknesses and shortfalls of Godus to our advantage.

We are developing a game that seeks to fill the void that the God Game genre has left in recent times.

The Universim will breathe new life into the scene with fresh ideas and new experiences. We also hope to create a more social environment around the game, and really get the community involved in more ways than one.

The market is hungry for a new planet management game — The Universim is that game.

The Universim will set things right for fans of God Games — fans who have been craving innovative new games without the smoke and mirrors that typically plagues new releases.

You will still have complete control over your citizen’s assigned tasks, as well as civilization research, progression, and overall management, but citizens will perform tasks in their own way. Although, knowing people, they may require a little divine intervention now and then!

The Universim by Crytivo Games, Inc. has one main, overarching goal: to revive old-school, great quality, and innovative games. In The Universim, we combine the best features from fantastic titles such as Spore, Civilization, SimCity, Populous, and so on, but with an entirely new approach to gameplay.

The organic gameplay of The Universim requires thought and sharpens cognitive abilities for players of all ages. You care for your Earthly subjects, but have limited control over how they go about their daily lives — they simply react to your commands based on artificial intelligence, sometimes in unexpected ways. Just like real humans, they reproduce, die, have emotions, get lazy, and sometimes, if you so choose, get punished with natural disasters.

You can attempt to influence their decisions and sway them back onto your chosen path, but the end result is entirely dependent on the AI. One such situation could be that the AI cities declare war on one another. It is then up to you to intervene and attempt to bring an end to the chaos, or simply watch as they destroy one another. The outcome is always uncertain.

Within The Universim, your world starts in the Stone Age, progresses to Medieval times, then to modern day, and eventually, the space age. As the Earth gets depleted of resources and starts experiencing visits from other worlds, it is your job to progress your society to a point where they can fly to new planets in search of a new life.

The Universim has been designed from the ground up to offer a very different take on your typical God Game. At its core, it offers all of the juicy features that long-time fans of the genre have come to know and love, but, this isn’t just a simple genre revival: it’s a reinvention!

Take control of a dynamic, evolving gameplay experience as you advance your civilization from stone to the stars above. The fates of entire planets rest in your hands. With an AI that makes dynamic decisions, and a world that is forever changing, the possibilities are endless.

So, what will it be? Will you guide your people towards prosperity, or merely watch as they descend into ruin? This is your power. This is the power of a god!

Conquer planet after planet as you expand your influence throughout the universe.

Take control of a dynamic, living world simulation.

Advance your civilization from the Stone Age all the way to the Space Era, and beyond!

Endure a wide range of dynamic events and brutal natural disasters.

Delve deep into the intricate research and civilization customization systems.

Explore beautiful, diverse, procedurally-generated planets.

Wield the immense powers of a god, ranging from restorative to destructive.

The hardest part of development is behind us. Our platform is stable and we’re now in a pre-alpha stage. This means the game is playable, but we just need to make small touches here and there. While the alpha launches in September, the game’s full release will be ready in 12-18 months.

Investors have been reaching out to make offers, publishers want to buy exclusive rights (which we respectfully decline), and platforms are showing interest as well. Xbox even sent us some gear to help with the build.

We’ve also launched a successful Kickstarter campaign which raised over $400,000 by nearly 12,000 people in 30 days. We also attended our first E3, which is a major step for such a small studio. The Universim is off to a fantastic start.

We continued to gain backers after the Kickstarter round ended and are now approaching 14,000 donors. We expect a large influx of supporters once the game reaches a more completed level of development.

In addition to fan contributions, we have received help from numerous companies, mostly in the form of advertising, such as Curse, Alienware, and Microsoft.

We’re also received a ton of press mentions: Kotaku, PC Gamer, Qubetubers, Only SP, The Stoned Gamer, Hardcore Gamer, Ghost Volta, Rock Paper Shotgun, and PC Invasion to name a few. We have numerous press contacts and a few partners who will get the news out about the game upon launch.

Gamers are really excited about our product. We have a large, active following: our newsletter has over 11,000 organic subscribers, our Facebook page has 7K+ fans, and we have over 3,200 followers on Twitter.

Up next: finalize the alpha for its September release, establish a proper office in San Diego, and hire the additional help we need to increase the rate of development and improve the overall quality of The Universim. With successful funding this round, we expect the game to be completed sooner than expected as well. For full funding details, please see the Business Plan tab of this profile.
